- argentinum. Eciton mexicanum subsp. argentinum Borgmeier, 1955: 259, pl. 55, figs. 7, 11; pl. 84, fig. 2 (s.q.) ARGENTINA (Chaco).
- Type-material: holotype queen, 3 paratype workers.
- Type-locality: holotype Argentina: Chaco, Presidente Roque Sáenz Peña, 12.x.1931 (Ohmeheider); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depository: “Museum von Buenos Aires” (probably MACN).
- Subspecies of mexicanum: Kempf, 1972a: 103; Bolton, 1995b: 184; Wild, 2007b: 25.
- Distribution: Argentina, Paraguay.
